Socionics Clubs — Small Group Typology

A Club is a set of four types who share a core mix of either Sensing or Intuition with either Logic or Ethics. Unlike the Quadra, Club members can be so different in values and working style that joint projects are often difficult — but together they can address a problem in its entirety, with each member contributing a distinct angle. A good mastermind group, in other words, though rarely a smooth one.

There are four Clubs: Socializers (SF), Pragmatists (ST), Humanitarians (NF) and Researchers (NT).

Socializers — SF

SF types tend to display warmth and friendliness toward others, and are often prominent in social settings. The two SF sub-groups approach this from different directions.

Alpha SFs (ESE and SEI) are oriented toward actively seeking out social connection through extroverted Ethics. They live in the here and now — easy to be around, caring, independent, and quick to contribute to the wellbeing of others. They have a natural feel for aesthetic style and are sensitive to criticism, though rarely hold grudges.

Gamma SFs (SEE and ESI) are oriented toward maintaining social harmony and order through introverted Ethics. They are attentive to the needs of others, value stability and cultural norms, and are careful with detail. They do not seek authority. Also here-and-now people, with a taste for excitement and adventure alongside their concern for others.

Pragmatists — ST

ST types take a practical, no-nonsense approach to situations and problems. They are action-oriented realists who prefer results over theory. Again, two distinct sub-groups.

Beta STs (SLE and LSI) are driven by extroverted Sensing — action-loving, fast-paced, risk-taking and adaptable. They have strong people skills and a tactical mind. Work doesn't need to be enjoyable; it needs to count toward something productive.

Delta STs (LSE and SLI) are driven by introverted Sensing — structured, methodical, and grounded in proven fact and experience. They are logical hard workers who prefer reliable methods over bold improvisation. Also here-and-now types, but more deliberate and definitive than their Beta counterparts.

Humanitarians — NF

NF types are idealistic and people-centred, with a concern for the welfare, happiness and spiritual development of others. They are the most interpersonally attuned of the four Clubs.

Beta NFs (EIE and IEI) are oriented toward accepting a person's social and spiritual role unconditionally, through introverted Intuition. Introspective, altruistic, patient and loyal, they have a natural desire to support and enhance the lives of those around them. Highly idealistic, they are driven by a sense of meaning and purpose.

Delta NFs (IEE and EII) are oriented toward bringing harmony to a person's purpose and ethical context, through extroverted Intuition. Resourceful, charismatic and life-loving, they actively send ideas out into the world as a means of improving the collective ethical climate. They strive for peace and find deep satisfaction in helping others find their footing.

Researchers — NT

NT types are logical and inventive, with a drive to investigate, understand and improve. They are the most intellectually oriented Club, and the most likely to see possibilities where others see only problems.

Alpha NTs (ILE and LII) work through introverted Logic — seeing possibilities for improvement everywhere and capable of understanding genuinely complex concepts. They are introspective, nonconformist and often quietly compelling company. They have a particular talent for taking ideas from conception to practical reality.

Gamma NTs (LIE and ILI) work through extroverted Logic — quick to model complicated organisational situations and decisive in developing solutions. They value knowledge and have a strong commercial instinct, seeing the world in terms of what could be improved or built upon. Where Alpha NTs explore, Gamma NTs systematise.
