About the site
Socionics Insight is a free reference site covering classical Socionics: the 16 personality types, 8 cognitive functions, and 16 intertype relations developed by Lithuanian researcher Aushra Augusta in the 1970s.
The site launched on 9 March 2026 with 284 pages and now runs to 269 public pages. It carries a full profile for each of the 16 types, an article on each of the 8 functions, pages covering all 16 intertype relations and 21 small-group pages, 57 type-pair comparisons, 28 worked typings of public figures, 24 longer articles, and free tools including a type test, an in-depth Type Finder and a pair explorer. Content is grounded in original research conducted from 2007 to 2009 and has been revised, corrected, and expanded for this publication.
The reference material is free, and none of it sits behind a paywall or an email form.
The site is one of the only active, comprehensive English-language Socionics references. Its primary competitors in the space, Wikisocion, Socionics.com and Sociotype.com, are either archived, effectively abandoned, or of disputed accuracy within the community.
Free tools
The type test, the compatibility tool and its 16×16 matrix, the dual finder, the conflict insight tool, the type disambiguator and the group dynamics mapper. None of them needs an account, and none stores anything outside the visitor's own browser. The downloads page carries a 10-page guide to the 16 intertype relations and three printable reference cards, also free and with no email address required.
The aggregate distribution of 1,830 test results taken between 17 June and 17 September 2026 is published in full, including the quadra split and a note on what a short test can and cannot tell you.
About the Socion app
Socion is a Socionics-based matching platform, live at socion.app since March 2026. Unlike algorithmic matching products, Socion has an explicit, auditable theory underneath it, the intertype relations matrix, and gives users direct agency over which dynamic they are looking for.
It covers dating, friendship, networking and team building. It is an installable progressive web app with offline support and push notifications, and it carries a free AI typing chat, Quadra Rooms, Boards, and points and referrals. Joining is free, and a Premium tier is $14.99 a year. The relation matrix the matching runs on is published as open source, so the logic behind a match can be inspected rather than taken on trust.
The paid work
The reference material stays free. Three things alongside it are not.
- Typing reports are a written Socionics typing built from a 20-question questionnaire in the client's own words, 3,500 to 5,000 words with the reasoning shown in full. Standard is £40 in 5 working days, Express £65 in 48 hours, and a couples report covering the relation between two people is £75 or £120. Reports are produced with AI assistance from the framework developed here, and reviewed before they are sent.
- Practical guides are digital guides that each take one difficult situation, such as a text exchange two partners keep reading differently, and work through it start to finish. Sold on Whop.
- Books, on Amazon. Socionics Made Simple is a 16-volume series, one per type, in Kindle. Your Social World Explained: A Complete Guide to Socionics, the 16 Personality Types and Relationship Compatibility is the foundation book covering all 16 types, all 16 relations and the small group structures, in Kindle, paperback, full-colour hardcover and audiobook. The revised second edition (2026) is redesigned throughout, with new diagrams for every type, relationship and small group.
Open source
The type, function, relation and small group data behind the site is published as socionics-core on npm under the MIT licence, with no dependencies and no build step. It is free to use for anyone building a Socionics tool, quiz, app or research project. See the Open Source page for the API and examples.
About the author
Spencer Stern is an independent author and personality systems researcher based in the UK. He has been studying Socionics since the mid-2000s and built the original Definitive Socionics Index, a community reference archive, between 2007 and 2009. He is the author of the Socionics Made Simple series (16 volumes) and Your Social World Explained, writes the practical guides, produces the written typing reports, and developed the SLIDE System (the Stern-Lezama Interpersonal Dynamics Evaluator), a modernised vocabulary layer built on Socionics foundations.
