Description

The following description is derived from Working Materials by I. Weisband (1986), translated by D. Lytov and edited by L. Kamensky (2002). It represents one classical perspective on the SEE type.

Kindness is power. The SEE takes pride in their influence with people — in the love and respect they command, in their own popularity. They gladly lead others. They are assertive and bold in expressing their sexuality, but aloof in dealing with the objective world, mistrustful of new scientific ideas and anything too impersonal. They feel confident, and therefore at ease with themselves, primarily in the field of handling people.

Restless activity. The SEE never hides their feelings — on the contrary, they take special pride in them. It is easy for them to sound sincere because they are expressing genuine feeling. They express admiration both verbally and through their eyes. They are always an adherent of love in all its forms, carnal and psychological alike. Even when a feeling is passing, they know exactly what they want from a lover and have no intention of adapting — only of dictating. Arrogant, optimistic; faced with a complicated situation they do not shy away but try to resolve it immediately with a few decisive moves.

They pay close attention to aesthetics and order in their surroundings. They frequently possess innate taste, dress well, and expect the same from their partners. They are attentive to the physical qualities of a partner. In all activities they show great initiative — yet they lack a sense of measure and are never quite sure they have done enough.

Less nagging and more living! Their life can be poisoned by demands from those close to them to think things through, to act rationally. This is more than they can bear — such demands only make them want to act more irrationally, to brush reason aside altogether out of spite. In fact they act cleverly and logically until someone demands that they do so — that is, as long as they feel respected and taken seriously. It is useless to dispute their logic; the only way to influence them is to challenge them to set aside their current goals in favour of ones more noble and harder to attain.

Laws are cowards' inventions. Their initiative and passion for new undertakings are so great that no criticism — not even the permanent grumbling of their dual, the ILI, who condemns almost every display of enthusiasm — can spoil their mood. In fact, being criticised calms them down; for the SEE it signals that their activities have not gone unnoticed and that they must have done enough.

Disappointment. Due to their initiative and demanding nature, they frequently feel let down by those they love: people turn out to be not what they seemed, not perceptive enough of their needs. What they truly need is a partner who is easy to be with without requiring the SEE to change their own nature. If no such partner is nearby, they stir up trouble in order to attract one.
