The IEE leads with extraverted intuition (Ne) and the SLI leads with introverted sensing (Si). In the Dual relation each type's leading function corresponds to the other's suggestive function. The IEE's intuitive range, enthusiasm and warmth deliver what the SLI most needs; the SLI's practical mastery, sensory precision and quiet reliability deliver what the IEE most needs.
What each supplies
The SLI's leading Si lands on the IEE's Suggestive function and the SLI's creative Te on the IEE's Mobilising function. The IEE, who can spend weeks in a whirl of people and projects, gets a partner who keeps them physically comfortable and knows how to make things actually work: the repair done, the budget kept, the practical route to whatever the IEE has been enthusing about. The IEE's leading Ne lands on the SLI's Suggestive and their creative Fi on the SLI's Mobilising. The SLI receives new angles and prospects they would not have gone looking for, and a warm, individual attention that tells them where they stand with the IEE without any public display.
The weakest points are covered on both sides. The IEE's Vulnerable function is Ti: rigid rule systems, formal argument, being made to justify themselves step by step. It sits in the SLI's eighth, Demonstrative position. SLIs usually understand how a system or mechanism works and will explain it plainly when asked, without turning it into a lecture. The SLI's Vulnerable function is Fe, the demand to display emotion, be enthusiastic in public or lift the mood on cue. That is the IEE's Demonstrative function. The IEE lifts the atmosphere of a room without trying, which spares the SLI from ever having to perform it, and rarely presses the SLI to show more feeling than they want to.

How this Dual plays out
This Delta Dual pairs developmental insight with quiet sensory work. The IEE reads people: sees what they could become, where their potential lies, what kind of support they would respond to. The SLI builds the conditions, physical, sensory and practical, under which that potential can actually develop. The combination is often found in caring and educational settings, and the partnership supports people's development without being intrusive about it.
Structurally, Ne-Fi leading meets Si-Te leading. The IEE supplies what the SLI's craft mode does not naturally articulate: the developmental insight, the read on people, the sense of what each person needs. The SLI supplies what the IEE's wide-ranging possibility-spotting tends to lack: the patient, physical, practical infrastructure within which the IEE's insights can be acted on. The IEE can see what is possible without the SLI's quiet competence collapsing under the openness; the SLI can build the conditions without the IEE forcing too much developmental pressure.
This pair's natural homes: therapeutic and pastoral partnerships, coaching pairings, family configurations where one parent reads the children and the other tends to the physical home, long marriages in caring professions, and workshop contexts where an IEE recognises potential and an SLI patiently builds skill. What causes friction
The friction in this pair is usually traceable to strong functions that neither partner rates very highly. The IEE's Demonstrative function is Fe, and it falls on the SLI's Vulnerable point. In a good mood the IEE uses it to lift a room so the SLI does not have to. In a bad mood the same function comes out as a loud, public display of feeling, or as pressure on the SLI to show more enthusiasm, and the SLI, who finds demands for emotional display hardest of all, withdraws. The SLI's Demonstrative Ti meets the IEE's Vulnerable Ti. A flat "that does not follow", or a precise correction of how the IEE has described something, is to the SLI a small point of accuracy; to the IEE it can feel like being marked wrong.
The Ignoring functions sit on each other's Role positions. The SLI's seventh function is Se, and the IEE's seventh is Ni. The SLI can dig in and refuse to budge when pushed, which catches out an IEE whose own attempts at firmness feel awkward. The IEE can see where a situation is heading but rarely dwells on it, and the SLI, who tries to plan ahead without much confidence, gets little help. Both are irrational types, so commitments, deadlines and long-term decisions tend to drift unless one of them makes a deliberate effort.
Pacing is the everyday difference. The IEE is an extravert with a broad circle and a full diary; the SLI is an introvert who wants quiet and a small number of well-known people. Under stress the IEE scatters into more contacts and more projects, and the SLI retreats into their own space and their own work. Both are avoiding, in opposite directions. The pair recovers when the IEE asks directly what the SLI needs, and the SLI tells the IEE plainly instead of waiting to be understood.
Early days and the long run
The two types often meet on different terms. The IEE is out and about, with a wide network and plenty of acquaintances; the SLI keeps a small circle and has to be drawn out. Early on the IEE usually takes the initiative, noticing something in the SLI that others have missed and saying so. The SLI tends to respond slowly and without much outward sign, which can leave the IEE unsure whether the interest is returned. It usually is. The SLI shows it practically, fixing something for the IEE, making sure they are comfortable, turning up with what was needed, well before they show it in words.
As the relationship settles, the pair builds a household that balances open doors with a quiet centre. The IEE keeps the social life going and brings people and ideas in; the SLI makes the home a place worth coming back to and keeps its practical side running. Each gets room to be themselves. The IEE is not expected to be orderly, and the SLI is not expected to be sociable on demand.
The long-run risk is drift. Because both are irrational types who prefer to respond to circumstances rather than plan, big decisions such as moving, money and children can be left until circumstances force them. The IEE may also come to feel the SLI is too content with a narrow life, and the SLI may feel the IEE's attention is spread too thin to reach them. Pairs that last tend to schedule the conversations neither would start on their own, and to protect some time that belongs to the two of them and no one else. For the SLI that time is ideally at home and unhurried; for the IEE it works best when it includes something new to look at or talk about, and the two usually find a way to combine both.
Duality versus its near neighbours
The IEE finds Si comforting in an SEI too, their Semi-dual, but the SEI pairs it with Fe rather than Te. The result is comfort and warmth without the practical competence the IEE's Mobilising position wants, and two people who can both drift when something needs doing. The LSE, the IEE's Activator, offers Te and Si in reverse order and as a rational type, which gets things done quickly but can start to feel regimented to the IEE.
From the SLI's side the equivalents are the ILE (Semi-dual) and the EII (Activation). The ILE brings the same Ne but pairs it with Ti, so the novelty comes with argument rather than personal warmth. The EII offers Fi and Ne in reverse order, on a rational type's schedule. The IEE is the only one of the three to meet both of the SLI's needs at once, and at the same irrational tempo.
