Why LII
Jung built Socionics' intellectual grandparent. His typological model — extraverted and introverted orientations, the four functions — is the foundation on which Aushra Augusta developed the system. The structural irony is that Jung himself is one of the clearest examples of the type his work made possible to describe: LII, the logical intuitive introvert.
The 1959 BBC interview is the best single document for understanding Jung as a thinker. He is precise, measured, and building toward coherence the entire time — every answer constructs something rather than simply responding. This is introverted logic at work: not the display of existing knowledge but the live construction of a framework sufficient to hold the question. The interviewer asks about God; Jung doesn't answer yes or no, he builds a structural account of what the question means that resolves the binary into something more accurate.
The Ne is visible in his breadth. Jung ranged across psychology, mythology, alchemy, religious symbolism, synchronicity and physics in search of the underlying patterns connecting them. This is extraverted intuition as a research methodology: the existing framework is always provisional, always susceptible to expansion if a new connection proves structurally illuminating. His contemporaries often found this maddening; Jung found it necessary.
What is absent — the Se vulnerability — is also present in his biography: the difficult personal relationships, the periodic detachment from practical reality, the extended interior episodes he documented in The Red Book. The LII's world is fundamentally a world of structure. The immediate sensory and relational texture of life requires more conscious management.
